Bregenz is the state capital of the Austrian province of Vorarlberg and district capital of the district of Bregenz. The city has the most important Austrian Bodenseehafen, is a railway junction and sports and cultural center.
Among other things, the Bregenz Festival is known for playing on the lake: on the shores of Lake Constance, an opera, but also a musical or an operetta, is performed every summer on a firmly anchored stage. The Seebühne is the largest outdoor festival stage in the world. Measured by its population, Bregenz is the third largest city in Vorarlberg after Dornbirn and Feldkirch.
